Sabrina’s Friends

We got Dottie at 10 weeks old from Bullies In Need. We were told she was deaf, and thought we would foster her and see how we got on. Having no experience, we met the transporters, and when they put her in my arms i knew she wasn’t going anywhere! I found this lady who does dog training she came round to me did an assessment. We started training and within days she had learned to sit, down, wait, high 5 and then went on to learn high 10.

He likes to 'herd' our hearing collie x springer spaniel and likes to chase shadows. He goes to obedience classes and we hope to do agility with him when he has learnt to come when 'called'. He knows quite a few hand signals especially 'walkies'. - Diane and Kai (UK)

Bruce

Bruce is our eight year old Doberman. He has been deaf since birth. We learned about Priscilla’s work through the facebook forum and we subsequently contacted her for

for her advice. We liked her immediately and were so impressed with her advice that we purchased her book, Training A deaf Dog. It proved to be a really valuable resource for us, and especially for Bruce, who has come on leaps and bounds since we discovered how to work with him in making his learning easier and more fun. Thank you Priscilla.  - J.J (USA)

We then started work on recall, she did really well, and we entered her into a show. She won best rescue and got 4th for quickest down. We had run out of sausages or she may have done better. Haha! I joined the deaf dog network on facebook and was asked to do a small demonstration by the founder. Dottie did meet and greets and i entered her for the fastest recall, which she not only won quickest of the hour, but went on to win quickest of the day. Dottie is an adorable dog, loves cuddles, we walk with other dogs and she gets on great with all dogs. we have done sponsored walks for b.i.n and ddn, and raised money for both, and we continue on with our training, Dottie is adorable in her personality. N. C (USA) p.s Dottie has her own faceBook Page called “Dottie Our deaf American Bulldog “

Kai was 13 months old when he came for a weekend visit in March and didn't return to the rescue centre. We adopted him in June. He is a lovely boy, but has some issues.

Hi, Priscilla, We all wanted to thank you on behalf of Gemma, our three year old lab, for everything that you have done to help us all to learn to to understand each other and live so happily together in coping with her deafness. You have been an inspiration to us all. Love from Gemma, Steed  Lucy, Philip and Joy (UK)

Gemma

Steed is our three year old doberman, and companion to our wonderful deaf dog Gemma. He is an amazing companion to her, not least because his ability to hear provides a lead in many daily situations, and has been a great help in the process of training Gemma. We love them both so much. Lucy, Philip and Joy

Snowbird is a merle border collie. She was abopted by Debbie and Roger Daniellson, of Toole UT, when she was about 12-14 weeks old. It was only after a few weeks that Debbie and Roger realised that Snowbird was nearly deaf, and they have been kind enough to share their story with us online. Read Snowbird’s story >>>
